Could It Be Colic?

Okay, so I'm miserable. Do I have colic? I have no idea. I cry a lot and my tummy gets real tight after I eat. Tears roll down my chubby cheeks and there is absolutely nothing that mommy, or daddy or EVEN grandma can do to calm me down. How do I know if I have colic? Everything that mommy and grandma have read online sounds like what I have...except for the 3-4 hrs. of crying each day. I'd say, I cry a total of 1 hr. when you add up all of my little fits.

My parents get so sad when they see me this upset. They've just started giving me gripe water and I like it - it tastes yummy - and it seems to help - but it's only temporary. I don't sleep very much so I'm tired all the time and you know what that means...I'm one cranky baby.

Mommy feels hopeless...and so alone thru all of this. She's called my doctor - who keeps prescribing me stuff for acid reflux - which I don't think I have. And there's so many things on the internet, that it hasn't helped mommy out at all. She's stressed out and that's stressing me out. She's constantly feeding me to help calm me down but I just get fussy right after. Does anyone out there know if this could be colic? If so, please help my mommy - she's really sad about this.

My grandma is leaving tomorrow and I'm really upset. I wish she was staying longer. I wish I could see her every day. She helps mommy out so much and she stays up with me at night so that mommy can rest. Oh, and she dresses me up in really cute clothes (although, I get pissed off sometimes b/c she doesn't know when to stop). We went shopping today and grandma but me a whole new wardrobe! I was growing out of all of my newborn clothes but wasn't big enough for the stuff I had at home - so mommy and grandma and I went to Target and boy did they spoil me! Yahoo!!! I can't wait to model my stuff for mommy and daddy (grandma - we'll have to send you pictures).

It's really tough you know...living so far away from my grandma. I like it out here in Missouri but boy, am I going to miss her. Grandma, will you come back and see me? I need you. Mommy and daddy do a great job of taking care of me and they love me to pieces but there's nothing like a grandma.

I'm getting sleepy now - finally - I think I'm going to go lay in my grandma's arms for one last night before she flies home. Goodnight :)

Grandma's In Town

Grandma Longley is in town :) and I love, love, love her. I stare at her all day long. She puts me in cute outfits and talks to me non-stop. It's been a rough couple of days...mommy & daddy think I might have colic. I know, I know...when will I get a break? First I had to have photolight therapy...then I had a blocked tear duct...then a bad diaper rash...then acid reflux and now possibly colic? What the hell is going on here? Oh, and to boot, I have new baby acne on my face now...and it looks like rosacea! Say it ain't so!

I feel like I have so much to fill you in on...last weekend I went to grandma and grandpa Ruffing's house in Iowa - boy was it fun! I got to meet aunty Erica and she's the best! I love her so much. She held me and rocked me and rubbed my head. She bought me a new brush, new books and a lullaby/nursery rhyme cd for mommy and daddy so they don't have to make up the words anymore. Thanks aunty Erica! I love you! I can't wait to see you and Nick again!

So, I have a big announcement to make...the first night that grandma Longley was here...she gave me a bath and I did not cry for the first time ever...and then...get this...grandma put me in the "miracle blanket" (that's really what it's called) and I slept for 5 HOURS! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! Mommy got to sleep for 5 HOURS STRAIGHT! Boy was I hungry when I woke up though! Thank you grandma Longley...I needed that sleep! I was starting to become a cranky little boy. To show my appreciation...I peed on grandma twice and then shot it towards the wall :) What are little boys for, right?

I have my pictures scheduled for tonight but we're in the middle of an ice storm, so I might have to wait until tomorrow to get them done. Mommy and grandma have already picked out my outfits. I heard them say I'm doing 2 different looks and then a naked one of course. Mommy has her 6 week checkup on Friday - so I'll be venturing out that day as well. I think mommy and grandma are going to take me shopping. Believe it or not, I need some more clothes. I'm in that in-between stage where I've grown out of my newborn stuff - but I'm not big enough to fit in to the 0-3 months stuff. I'm just a little boy.

Okay, time for my nap. Grandma wants to rock me and kiss my face. Peace out y'all!

Did You Miss Me?

I'm back! I missed all of you! Boy, have I had a busy week/weekend?! I just got back from Iowa! Yep, you heard me right...mommy and daddy took me to see grandma and grandpa. It took us 5 1/2 hrs. - my longest car ride yet. I did really well. I slept most of the way (except for eating of course). I got to meet my great grandma and grandpa Gourley and my aunt Erica for the first time! They're great! Aunty Erica really loves me; I can tell. She held me so much and rubbed my little head.

Oh, and did I tell you? I got some new books! Aunty Erica got me 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear' and 'Where the Monsters Are' - oh and my favorite one...a book full of nursery rhymes and riddles! Now mommy and daddy don't have to make them up! Boy did I have a good time out there. Oh, and I met daddy's best friend Raef and his wife Joie...oh and their little boy Cael who was super cute!

Grandma and Grandpa were so good to me this weekend! They held me and kissed me and loved me all over! Grandma is the best...she always knows how to calm me down if I'm crying...and she changes my dirty diapers...and puts me on the soft carpet so I can lay on my back and look around.

My other grandma is coming next Monday. I can't wait to meet her. I think we're going to be best buds. I'm just a busy little boy in this big busy world!

I'm 4 Weeks Old!

I'm a big boy now! I turned 4 weeks old yesterday! Mommy and daddy can't believe it...time flies when you're a growin' baby! So many things have changed about me. My hands are bigger...my fingers are no longer these pointy little things...they look like real little boy hands! I've already grown out of one of my onesies (don't tell mom I told you though...she's pretty upset about it).

Let's see, what else...I have a lot more hair now...mom always gathers it right at the base of my neck to see if she can make a little ponytail...I'm not quite there yet...but it does look like a little cow-lick. Everything on me is getting a little bit plumper...and I'm eating so much that I grow just about every day!

I'm actually going to get some professional pictures taken...mom called to make the appointment today because I'm growing so fast - she wants to remember me when I'm tiny. I can't wait to model off this oh-so-cute baby bod of mine...watch out ladies! Dylan's in the house!

Daily Grind

I had a pretty busy weekend. Well - in normal standards it wasn't all that busy but for me - I puckered out. Like I said in an earlier blog, I went to Walmart on Friday...Saturday, we all stayed home and hung out. Me, mommy and daddy watched 'Pineapple Express' - it was okay. Not as funny as I thought it would be. It helped past the time for mommy though while she was feeding me. Mommy got to take a nap...daddy watched football all day and I did the usual...pooped, peed, ate, cried and slept.

Sunday I went to church for the first time. I slept thru the whole service - didn't make a peep! Mommy and daddy had trouble following the service because they were so focused on me. They left me in my carseat - which I have come to love. I'm not in it a lot but when I do go places - I just feel so snug and safe. Mommy and daddy will leave me in it whenever we get home from somewhere and usually I'll sleep in it for a little while longer.

And last night, I switched back and forth between the Golden Globes and Desperate Housewives. Boy was that a tough call! I started with watching all of my favorite celebs on the red carpet and then got hooked on the women from Wisteria Lane. I also watched mommy's favorite show - Brothers & Sisters. Oh, and then sometime this morning...can't remember when...maybe 1, 2 or 3am...mommy and I watched 'The Women' with Meg Ryan while I ate. Cute movie - but definitely a chick flick. 'Mom, can we get something a little more masculine next time'?

Oh, and today, since daddy only works 4 days a week (which I love! and so does mommy!) we are all going to the mall for the VERY FIRST TIME. I can't wait! Mommy needs to buy one of those baby slings for me - so I can hang out with her when I won't sleep and she needs to do things around the house. She's never tried one on - and I've never been in one - so hopefully we'll both like it. Mommy also needs some new lounge pants...and she found some at Victoria's Secret that she likes (I don't think daddy knows it yet...but he's buying them for her) :)

Daddy will probably bring me in to some sports stores...and other than that - we'll head home and hang out. I'm not sure how this mall thing is going to pan out yet...since I eat every 2 hours and we'll be out for longer than that - especially with the commute to Springfield. Oh well, I'm sure mommy and daddy will figure it out.

Mommy said I have to have a bath tonight - especially since we're going out. She gets weird about germs and stuff...and she's always cleaning my hands off with a wet washcloth. It starts out warm but the cloth turns cold too fast and it makes me chilly. I still hate bathtime...but my aunt Laura's best friend, Megan, who has a little girl named Camryn, gave my mommy some great ideas on how to keep me warm. Thanks Megan and Camryn!

Did I mention that I get to meet my grandma soon? Grandma Longley is coming out at the end of this month and I can't wait to meet her! She's flying in all the way from Connecticut just to see me. Mom always tells me how special I am but man, I must really be something if grandma is flying all that way just for me. I can't wait for her to hold me and kiss me and sing to me...and mommy can't wait for her take over so she can get some sleep!

Kick It Out

Whenever daddy changes my diaper...he always talks to me. His favorite thing to say is, "kick it out". When he's trying to put my footsies back on - I always scrunch my legs up towards my chest and then I kick them out towards daddy. We never quite get nsynch with each other though. Just when he's trying to put my foot in it - I'm taking it back and when I'm kicking it out, he's fumbling to get the buttons...lol (I think it's all really funny...and I like playing this game with him). Mommy always laughs when she hears daddy saying 'kick out out'...it's our little thing :)

So, I forgot to mention a few things about yesterday...first off...I need to give a shout out to my grandpa Longley...he turned 54...Happy Birthday gramps! I can't wait to meet you! AND I went for my VERY FIRST OUTING yesterday...(of course I've been out to the doc's already...but that's no fun...so I didn't count that). I wish I could say I went somewhere exciting...but mommy and daddy needed groceries so we went to Walfart...I know, I know...go ahead and laugh. I overheard mommy say she was going to lie and put something cooler in my baby book - but hey, I gotta tell it like it is.

It was a great day to take me because it was in the 60's. Mommy was so nervous about taking me out...but she calmed down once we were there. Only one person came up to her - a little old lady who asked if she could see her baby (that would be me) and mom said 'yes'. Mommy won't let any strangers touch me - even my hands. She was all ready to pounce on anyone that tried - but luckily, she didn't have to. That little old lady just looked at me and smiled. I can't say that I'm a big fan of the bright lights in Walfart...or the bumps in the floor - it makes for a rough carriage ride. I slept for most thru most of the shopping - woke up a few times to test my lungs out but other than that - I heard mommy and daddy say I was a really good boy.

I gotta go eat now. xoxo dylan

Bathtime Sucks

I hate baths. They're cold, too much work and they make me cry. Mom and dad only bathe me every couple of days - but still - I can't stand them. I like the way I feel afterwards but I'm not sure if it's worth all the hassle?

I can tell mom and dad are newbies at this...lol...they fumble over me like a wet a football. Dad's job is to hold my bottom and my head and mom's job is to wash me. They're getting better each time - but they really need to work on their 'rinsing off' stage. Oh, and they definitely need to work on their 'swaddling after bath' stage. Mom usually only gets about half of my body in the towel and she never quite gets my head in the hooded part of it. Oh well, they love me...so I guess I'll tough it out for now.

Okay, well mommy is really tired...I can see her yawning right now...so I gotta go.
