Great Day - But Busy Day

Dad's still out of town and boy do mom and I miss him. It's been a long day...and I'm pooped. I woke up around 630'ish this morning and somehow, mom got me to go back down until 8. Let's see, got my medicine...ate...and left for swim class.

Started swim class at 10..loved it...but then I threw a tantrum in the locker room...and yeah, mom was stressin'. She had a towel on since we'd just rinsed off in the shower and she was trying to calm me down and well = her towel fell off...you get the picture.

Then we went to the mall and met up with our friend Jackie. Mom dropped off her wedding ring to get resized...and shopping we went! I got some new clothes...Macy's was having this HUGE one day sale = go figure :) Mom picked me up a $48 outfit for $5! You can't beat it! We grabbed lunch and even splurged on a milkshake. Yummmm....

By now, it was around 4 and I was ready to head home. I fell asleep in the car and before I knew it, we were pulling into our driveway. We took it easy this evening. Mom and I ate dinner = she had a sandwich and I had some bananas. Then we watched a movie...Confessions of a Shopaholic...it was cute. Then it was bathtime.

Mom got me all cleaned up and ready for bed - then I pooped. I pooped all over my new onesie and up my back, etc. Man, was it a mess. Poor mom...she's had one heck of a weekend. She's going to need a day to herself when dad gets home (hint, hint dad).

Anywho - I'm off to bed. Love, Dylan

Hot Day In Missouri & My 1st Sip Of Water

It's hot in Missouri today. Really hot. If we could just get a breeze goin' folks - I think we'd be alright. It's when you walk outside and the heat hits you like a ton of bricks...and you can't breathe. We can't really go outside - mom says it's too hot for me. Ugh, I think there's many more days to come like this one.
I just got back from yoga. It was great to see all of my friends again: Grace, Quinn, Davis, Anastasia and Iyush. Mom and I went out to lunch with some of the other moms after class and I ended up falling asleep over her shoulder. The drive home was kind of tough. I cried the whole way back...and mom's arm feels dislocated from reaching back so many times to try and rub my face to calm me down.
Right now, I'm just hangin' out in my crib. Mom is trying to get me used to being in here. It's not so bad I guess. I don't mind chillin' in this thing during the day - but the PM - I don't think so.
Any who - dad leaves tomorrow morning for St. Louis. It's another guys' weekend...I'm going to miss him. He's so much fun to hang around with. He throws me up in the air...he makes me laugh...he tickles me...he reads to me...and he's just a laid back type of guy. Dad - I'm going to miss you. I can't wait for Sunday to come around so we can hang out again.
Not much else to say - I'm pretty tired so I think I might try and take a nap now. Love, Dylan

PS - Before I go, here's a video of me just after I took my 1st sip of water the other day. Pretty cool...oh and I can't believe I didn't say this before (!) I sat up for the 1st time today...ALL BY MYSELF!

Aquababes & My 6 Month Checkup

I had my 6 month checkup on Monday and I weighed in at 19 lbs.! Whoah! I got the Rotavirus vaccine and the last of my Hep B shots. Not so bad...I go back in 2 weeks for the rest of my shots. So far, I haven't had any reactions this go around...in fact, mommy took me to my first swim class yesterday - and I didn't cry once. My instructor called me 'the fish of the class'. Did you hear that? I'm a natural!
The class is called Aquababes. Check mom and I out: My favorite part was the boogy board. I got right on my tummy and kicked my way thru the water. It was so much fun! I made some new friends...Connor, Alexa, Sophie and Jesse. I'll be going every Tuesday morning and yes, I'm still doing my yoga too. Mom's makin' sure that I get my exercise in and I'm making sure she gets out of the house :)
Dad's leaving this weekend for his annual guys' trip to St. Louis. I'm not sure what mom and I will do...maybe hang out with a friend of ours in the neighborhood. I think we'll pop in at the mall and maybe putz around a bit...get a bite to eat and head home. It's supposed to be really hot over the next few days so I won't be going outside any time soon. We went for a walk this morning with Blaine and Jenny but we couldn't go long because the sun was too hot for me. Mom was sweating!
I'll keep ya posted on my swim progress...oh, I almost forgot - I went under water for the first time! I swallowed a bunch of water...but I didn't cry. I think we'll have to work on this one...

Loungin' Around

Today I just hung around the house. I woke up around 7'ish and daddy and mommy took me out to breakfast at The Red Barn with Aunt Erica and Nick. It was packed! Mom had 2 cinnamon buns (!) some eggs, fruit, potatoes and coffee...yummmm. I ended up falling asleep over her shoulder and stayed like that until we got home.
It was just a relaxing day. We played Taboo and Trivial Pursuit like a million times...and daddy was whoopin' all of our 'you know whats'. Can you say, rematch? I played in my horse, ate, slept and hung out with my family. It was just another great day in the Ruffing household.
Dad leaves next weekend for St. Louis for his guys' weekend. He's meeting up with Uncle Dave and Micah. That should be interesting...I'm not sure what mom and I will do. I know she wants to take me blueberry picking but it's been too hot these past few weeks so hopefully, the weather will be better in the next couple of days. If we do go, she said I could help her make something yummy for dessert: blueberry pie...blueberry cobbler...blueberry muffins???
Aunt Erica leaves tomorrow :( so it's back to the ole' grind for me. Dad has to mow the lawn at some point...and I have my 6 month appointment on Monday - blah. I have to get shots. No fun.
Anywho - not much else to say - thought I'd throw a picture of my other aunt on here. Her name is Aunt Laura and she lives in Mass. I went to see her a few weeks ago and we hit it off really well.

Icky Icky Poo Poo!!!

Picture this: me, mom and dad are all sitting down to eat a nice lunch. I'm in my Bumbo...mom's feeding me my fave: sweet potatoes and her and dad are eating leftover pizza. All of a sudden, I'm no longer interested in what I'm eating. "Oh well," dad says. "I guess he's just not hungry." Next thing I know, mom says she's going to change my diaper and put me in something cute for the day (I was still in my pjs since we'd only been grocery shopping). Mom usually needs help getting me out of my seat since my legs are so fat. My chunky monkey thighs get stuck when she tries to take me out so dad has to pull the Bumbo off of me. Well, today, I just slid right out. Wanna know why? I SHIT MY PANTS...AND LET IT RUN ALL THE WAY DOWN MY RIGHT LEG...No need for any assistance here folks...I made my own lubricant...called SHIT!
Ugh...Aunt Erica was going to be walking in the door any minute...and mom nor dad had taken a shower. Oh well. I'm more important. It was 'Operation Icky Icky Poo Poo' time.
Mom stripped me down to my nickers...and dad got the spray wash out. The next thing I know, there's poop all over mom's shirt, down her shorts and I'm flat on my back in the tub. Dad is yelling "ya know, I can see how your life just changes in a moment." And they both start laughing. (Okay, maybe it didn't go quite like that...but I had to give you the G-rated version of their conversation).
To make a long story short - I'm all cleaned up now. And mom and daddy say I'm still the best little boy ever. Let's see what tomorrow brings...can you say...PEE PEE?

Just Another Busy Day!

Today was a super busy day. Let's see...I woke up at 8am...yep...I'm sleeping now (!) then mom changed my diaper b/c I peed thru it...then I changed my clothes...then I played in my swing while mom ate breakfast. I got all buckled in to my car seat and we went to Keen Bean for some coffee...then off to Itsy Bitsy Yoga for 10am. It was so good to see all of my friends! Grace...Quinn...Iyush...and Davis!
Okay, then mom had to weigh in at WW to keep up her lifetime membership and she lost 1/2 lb. (not sure how that happened...since she's not trying to lose weight). Must be all of that boob I eat :) After that we went to Panera for some lunch. I started to get a little fussy so mom took me to the car to feed me and then changed my diaper. Oh, and we went to the YMCA to sign me up for swim lessons. I start on Tuesday! Yay! I already have 4 sets of swim trunks! Mom and I went on a tour today to see where we'd be swimming, etc. and I can't wait!
It was now about 1 or so...and mom said it was time to head home. We had to pick up my medicine in town but once we got home - mom put me down for a much-needed nap. What a busy day! Mom's hoping the doctor will decrease my Prilosec since I seem to be doing so much better. We'll find out...I have my 6 month checkup on Monday.
Oh yeah, I went swimming for the first time while I was on vacation. I can't believe I forgot to tell you that? There's a picture of all of us in one of the many hotels we stayed in! (I think I'm going to be a natural at this water thing...)
Okay - time for bed. My Aunt Erica is coming to see me tomorrow and I need my beauty sleep.

Ocean City, Maryland

My first trip to the beach was pretty amazing. Mom and dad took me to Ocean City, Maryland. Mom used to go there as a little girl with her dad, so it was special that we were now starting this tradition in our family.
This is me and mom on the beach :) It was really cold that morning but it was perfect weather for me. Mom put my feet in the sand for the first time and I loved it. It felt so good between my toes and I even tried to scoop some up with my hand but mom said no. Dad is the one taking the picture and he stayed up on the boardwalk with my stroller so that mom and I could have some time on the beach together.

In this picture, mom had just put my feet in the ocean for the first time and I hated it! The water was FREEZING and I started to cry. She felt bad so she picked me right up and headed back for some kisses from dad.

Ahh, dad, so glad you're here :) Sometimes he just makes everything all better again. We had so much fun that day...just walking the boardwalk...the 3 of us. I think mom got a little emotional though...she started to cry as we were walking...I think she was remembering when she was a little girl walking down that same boardwalk with her dad. They were good memories though, and happy tears - I heard her tell my dad. She just kept squeezing me and telling me how much she loved me and then she started telling me stories about things she used to do with her brother and sister when they were at the beach. Sure sounds like they all had a great time. I hope I get to go to Ocean City again next year.
