Helping Mom Make Brownies

Ahhh...what a day, what a day. I am pooped! It's raining cats and dogs in Mt. Vernon today. Thank god we only had yoga today!!!! I'm so tired!!! Mom drove me right home after class and I slept in the car. I got to see dad over lunch and that made me very happy.
Mom was finally able to cut my nails today. I've been a little difficult lately...every time she tried to do it I would pull my hands away. I think she just got sick of me putting battle wounds on her arms from using them as my scratching post!

We're having our friends over tonight; Mike and Jackie. Mom and dad are going to make sweet corn, brats, potato wraps and brownies. I can't wait! I think mom is going to pump too so that she can have a glass of wine and so Mike and Jackie can try to feed me with a bottle. We just found out they're moving so we're trying to squeeze in as much time with them as we can!

Mom and I bought our tickets last night to fly back to Mass. for Thanksgiving. We'll be there for 2 whole weeks! Holy cow! Alright, it's time for me to go...I have to help mom make brownies for tonight before I go down for my afternoon nap. Geeze, my work here is never done.

Busy Plans This Week!

I'm back to my normal routine this week after coming back from a long car ride...Iowa is just too far away! I had a great time seeing my family though. I got to see Grandma and Grandpa Ruffing, Aunt Erica and Aunt Stacie, Uncle Dan and Cousins Piper and Bianca and Great Grandma and Grandpa Gourley. Phew! Lots of people! I picked corn for the first time at Grandpa Gourley's farm. Mom and dad cooked it up tonight and boy did it look yummy!
I went to swim class today. This Saturday is my last session. I think mom might sign me up for another 4 weeks though. We both liked it so much that I think we'll continue with it. I'm a natural - so more lessons to me is no problem at all :) Dad will be coming with us this weekend so he can see me get my swimming certificate!
Tomorrow I'm going to the Titanic Museum in Branson. I've been to Branson but never to this museum. Mom says it should be fun. I know she's always wanted to go - so I'm excited. The car ride will be about an hour or so...so I should be able to get a good nap in. My friends Garrett, Stephen and Sara will be coming too.
Thursday I have yoga and Friday is grocery shopping with mom. Friday night, Grandpa Ruffing is spending the night and Saturday morning I have swim class. Saturday afternoon, mom and dad have to run some errands (with me in tow of course!), Sunday is church and Monday...I think we might try and go to the Ozark Empire Fair...(dad doesn't know that yet though...) hopefully he'll want to go. We'll see...I have a pretty busy week as it is - so maybe another time.
Okay, time for bed. I'm wiped!

Off to Iowa

I'm off to Iowa today folks. Yep. I'm going to see my grandma and grandpa for the weekend. They're getting ready to move down here to Missouri and they've asked my daddy and my 2 aunts to come over and go thru all of their old stuff. It'll be a long drive - about 6 hrs. or so...and I'm not looking forward to it but I'm sure I'll sleep some of the way. Mom is reading a really good book right now so she's hoping she can finish it while I snooze...(Memoirs of a Geisha) - (really good book!)
So last night mom and dad went on a date! They went out to dinner at the Blackbird in Aurora. Mike and Jackie watched me and I had a great time! They read me Brown Bear like a million times...now Mike says he knows it by heart! For some reason, I won't take a bottle though...so mom and dad are on the hunt for a new bottle with a faster flowing nipple. Maybe this will help? Mom and dad have been talking and they've decided that they need to have some more 'alone' time. I think they're going to try and go out together once a month. I really like Mike and Jackie so I don't mind.
I'm missing swimming today since we have to be on the road so early. I haven't been at all this week and I miss it! Mom says we'll be back to our routine next week though - so Tuesday I'll be in swim class again. Oh, and on Wednesday, mom is taking me to the Titanic Museum in Branson! I can't wait! I've always wanted to go!

Lakeside

So I've got those pictures from the lake. Check 'em out! I'm pretty cute, aren't I! The one below is of me, mom and dad. I'm the one holding on to the green floaty thing. The picture to the right, is also me. I'm wearing my new hat to protect me from the sun and I'm smiling for the camera, as you can see.

I had a fun day today. I went to yoga and then went out to lunch with my buddies, Quinn and Davis. I sat in a highchair for the first time all by myself! Then mom and I went to a sidewalk sale at PaperWorld and bought some cute cards. Oh...then we went home and made brownies for dad. That's about it - I'm tired right now and am about to throw a fit. Gotta go!

Rub A Dub Dub!

I had such a good time on the boat yesterday! I probably looked like a white spot out on the water though because mom kept putting sunscreen all over me like every 2 seconds?! Geeze mom! I loved the sound of the motor...and fell asleep a few times because of it. I watched mom and dad jump in the water and then they took me in with them. It was my first time in Table Rock Lake! I was such a good swimmer and I even showed off my fancy kicks that I do every week in swim class. I think dad wants to buy a boat now...he's got the bug :) (I'll post pics of me on the lake later...dad has to upload 'em first).
That's me over to the right...and those are yoga blankets behind me. Mom was getting me ready for yoga and she took a snapshot of me because she said I was just too cute not to!

I also got a new tub...take a look! It makes this really cool 'quacking' when you pinch its beak. I love it! That's me playing the guitar...it's my favorite tub toy and I can't take a bath without it. Whoops! Gotta run...mom is calling me!

Swinging to Sleep

I had such a fun day today! I woke up at 830 and had breakfast with mommy and daddy. Then we jumped in the car and headed to swim class at the Y. It was daddy's first time watching me kick my feet in the water and I was so happy that he came. After that, we went home to clean up and then headed to Republic for a BBQ at Rose's house. I got to sit in a swing on a huge play set for the first time! Look at my pictures!
After mom and dad pushed me a few times...I fell right asleep :) It must have been all the fun in the sun I was having. Mom scooped me up and took me inside for a nap.
Let's see...then we drove home and I just kind of hung out and got ready for bed. I'm actually still up right now. I'm protesting. I don't want to go to bed yet. Mom and dad say it's time, but I say no way.
Guess what I'm doing tomorrow? I'm going boating for the first time. Our friends Mike and Jackie invited us to Table Rock Lake for a nice boat ride and I'm super excited! Mommy is going to pack a whole bunch of food for us...and some yummy dessert...and she's already got my swim trunks packed! Yahoo! I'll be sure she takes lots of pictures of me for my blog!
See ya tomorrow!

Daddy & Dylan Night!

It's been an interesting day. I usually don't wake up until 8/830 or so...but I woke up at 630 this morning. It might have been because daddy walked in the room to get his toothbrush...or because Bailey walked in to drink out of her bowl and her claws make a loud noise when she walks across the wood floors...or it could have been because I peed thru my onesie. Who knows...but I woke up and boy was I a grump!
Mom tried to get me back to sleep but I just wouldn't shut my eyes. So, she gave me my medicine, strapped me in my carseat and off to yoga we went. I cried for a few minutes and then I fell asleep :) Yoga was great.
We drove home and I fell asleep in the car again. I got home and mom tried to put me down for a nap 3 different times and all I wanted to do was play so we played in my room until 3'ish. I finally went down for my afternoon nap around 315 and mom thought I'd sleep for a good 1-2 hours but nope - I woke up at 4! This is not looking good for dad.
See, it's daddy and Dylan night tonight...mom is going out to eat with her friend Melissa and she's never EVER left me during bedtime before! Good luck dad! She's pumped dinner for me though...and dad knows how to give me a bath...give me my medicine...read me my favorite book...and rock me to sleep. Let's see how he does...
I'll check back in with you all tomorrow :)

Today

Today. Let's see. Today was a pretty good day. Woke up at 820. Took my medicine. Ate breakfast with mom. Jumped in the car to pick up Bailey's special diet dog food in Miller. Stopped at Pamida to grab some diapers. And of course, swung by Keen Bean for a coffee. I was able to swing a 20 minute nap in there somewhere too.
Mom and I hung out around the house because it was too hot to play outside. I saw dad over lunch and then played with mom after that. I went down for a nap around 2 and I slept for 2 hours :) Mom laid right next to me and started a new book: Memoirs of a Geisha. She really likes it so far. She finished the Amish book yesterday...I know, she's weird. She likes to read about those sorts of things.
Tomorrow is yoga day. Grace won't be there for like 3 weeks! She went back to Canada for a little while to hang out with family. Oh well, at least Quinn and Davis will be there! Okay, getting cranky now. Time for bed.

I Love You

Whoah! It's been quite a week! Let's start with Sunday. Since dad was still out of town, mom and I went to church with our friend Jackie. We went to the early service (we usually go to 2nd service) but we wanted to see what it was like. I had a great time and I even made a dollar! Yep, you heard me right! This nice man sitting behind us gave me a rolled up dollar bill. I played with it and then tried to give it back but he said, "nope - it's his". So...when we got home, mom made me put it directly into my piggy bank. No shopping spree for me :(
Today I went to the Discovery Center for the first time. My yoga class had a field trip and so I met up with my friend Quinn. We had a great time! My favorite thing was the floating balloon. Mom let me touch it.
Some sad news...one of my great-grandmas died last night. Her name was Dorothy Longley and she was my grandpa Longley's mom. I never got to meet her expect for when I was in mommy's tummy last July; she came to my baby shower. Mom showed me her picture tonight and I know I would have liked her. She seemed like a really nice lady. Well, grandpa Longley...I'm thinking of you tonight and I'm sending you all of the love I have in my heart. I wish so much, that I could be there with you right now...to give you a hug...and a kiss...and to tell you how wonderful you are. I love you.

Great Day - But Busy Day

Dad's still out of town and boy do mom and I miss him. It's been a long day...and I'm pooped. I woke up around 630'ish this morning and somehow, mom got me to go back down until 8. Let's see, got my medicine...ate...and left for swim class.

Started swim class at 10..loved it...but then I threw a tantrum in the locker room...and yeah, mom was stressin'. She had a towel on since we'd just rinsed off in the shower and she was trying to calm me down and well = her towel fell off...you get the picture.

Then we went to the mall and met up with our friend Jackie. Mom dropped off her wedding ring to get resized...and shopping we went! I got some new clothes...Macy's was having this HUGE one day sale = go figure :) Mom picked me up a $48 outfit for $5! You can't beat it! We grabbed lunch and even splurged on a milkshake. Yummmm....

By now, it was around 4 and I was ready to head home. I fell asleep in the car and before I knew it, we were pulling into our driveway. We took it easy this evening. Mom and I ate dinner = she had a sandwich and I had some bananas. Then we watched a movie...Confessions of a Shopaholic...it was cute. Then it was bathtime.

Mom got me all cleaned up and ready for bed - then I pooped. I pooped all over my new onesie and up my back, etc. Man, was it a mess. Poor mom...she's had one heck of a weekend. She's going to need a day to herself when dad gets home (hint, hint dad).

Anywho - I'm off to bed. Love, Dylan

Hot Day In Missouri & My 1st Sip Of Water

It's hot in Missouri today. Really hot. If we could just get a breeze goin' folks - I think we'd be alright. It's when you walk outside and the heat hits you like a ton of bricks...and you can't breathe. We can't really go outside - mom says it's too hot for me. Ugh, I think there's many more days to come like this one.
I just got back from yoga. It was great to see all of my friends again: Grace, Quinn, Davis, Anastasia and Iyush. Mom and I went out to lunch with some of the other moms after class and I ended up falling asleep over her shoulder. The drive home was kind of tough. I cried the whole way back...and mom's arm feels dislocated from reaching back so many times to try and rub my face to calm me down.
Right now, I'm just hangin' out in my crib. Mom is trying to get me used to being in here. It's not so bad I guess. I don't mind chillin' in this thing during the day - but the PM - I don't think so.
Any who - dad leaves tomorrow morning for St. Louis. It's another guys' weekend...I'm going to miss him. He's so much fun to hang around with. He throws me up in the air...he makes me laugh...he tickles me...he reads to me...and he's just a laid back type of guy. Dad - I'm going to miss you. I can't wait for Sunday to come around so we can hang out again.
Not much else to say - I'm pretty tired so I think I might try and take a nap now. Love, Dylan

PS - Before I go, here's a video of me just after I took my 1st sip of water the other day. Pretty cool...oh and I can't believe I didn't say this before (!) I sat up for the 1st time today...ALL BY MYSELF!

Aquababes & My 6 Month Checkup

I had my 6 month checkup on Monday and I weighed in at 19 lbs.! Whoah! I got the Rotavirus vaccine and the last of my Hep B shots. Not so bad...I go back in 2 weeks for the rest of my shots. So far, I haven't had any reactions this go around...in fact, mommy took me to my first swim class yesterday - and I didn't cry once. My instructor called me 'the fish of the class'. Did you hear that? I'm a natural!
The class is called Aquababes. Check mom and I out: My favorite part was the boogy board. I got right on my tummy and kicked my way thru the water. It was so much fun! I made some new friends...Connor, Alexa, Sophie and Jesse. I'll be going every Tuesday morning and yes, I'm still doing my yoga too. Mom's makin' sure that I get my exercise in and I'm making sure she gets out of the house :)
Dad's leaving this weekend for his annual guys' trip to St. Louis. I'm not sure what mom and I will do...maybe hang out with a friend of ours in the neighborhood. I think we'll pop in at the mall and maybe putz around a bit...get a bite to eat and head home. It's supposed to be really hot over the next few days so I won't be going outside any time soon. We went for a walk this morning with Blaine and Jenny but we couldn't go long because the sun was too hot for me. Mom was sweating!
I'll keep ya posted on my swim progress...oh, I almost forgot - I went under water for the first time! I swallowed a bunch of water...but I didn't cry. I think we'll have to work on this one...

Loungin' Around

Today I just hung around the house. I woke up around 7'ish and daddy and mommy took me out to breakfast at The Red Barn with Aunt Erica and Nick. It was packed! Mom had 2 cinnamon buns (!) some eggs, fruit, potatoes and coffee...yummmm. I ended up falling asleep over her shoulder and stayed like that until we got home.
It was just a relaxing day. We played Taboo and Trivial Pursuit like a million times...and daddy was whoopin' all of our 'you know whats'. Can you say, rematch? I played in my horse, ate, slept and hung out with my family. It was just another great day in the Ruffing household.
Dad leaves next weekend for St. Louis for his guys' weekend. He's meeting up with Uncle Dave and Micah. That should be interesting...I'm not sure what mom and I will do. I know she wants to take me blueberry picking but it's been too hot these past few weeks so hopefully, the weather will be better in the next couple of days. If we do go, she said I could help her make something yummy for dessert: blueberry pie...blueberry cobbler...blueberry muffins???
Aunt Erica leaves tomorrow :( so it's back to the ole' grind for me. Dad has to mow the lawn at some point...and I have my 6 month appointment on Monday - blah. I have to get shots. No fun.
Anywho - not much else to say - thought I'd throw a picture of my other aunt on here. Her name is Aunt Laura and she lives in Mass. I went to see her a few weeks ago and we hit it off really well.

Icky Icky Poo Poo!!!

Picture this: me, mom and dad are all sitting down to eat a nice lunch. I'm in my Bumbo...mom's feeding me my fave: sweet potatoes and her and dad are eating leftover pizza. All of a sudden, I'm no longer interested in what I'm eating. "Oh well," dad says. "I guess he's just not hungry." Next thing I know, mom says she's going to change my diaper and put me in something cute for the day (I was still in my pjs since we'd only been grocery shopping). Mom usually needs help getting me out of my seat since my legs are so fat. My chunky monkey thighs get stuck when she tries to take me out so dad has to pull the Bumbo off of me. Well, today, I just slid right out. Wanna know why? I SHIT MY PANTS...AND LET IT RUN ALL THE WAY DOWN MY RIGHT LEG...No need for any assistance here folks...I made my own lubricant...called SHIT!
Ugh...Aunt Erica was going to be walking in the door any minute...and mom nor dad had taken a shower. Oh well. I'm more important. It was 'Operation Icky Icky Poo Poo' time.
Mom stripped me down to my nickers...and dad got the spray wash out. The next thing I know, there's poop all over mom's shirt, down her shorts and I'm flat on my back in the tub. Dad is yelling "ya know, I can see how your life just changes in a moment." And they both start laughing. (Okay, maybe it didn't go quite like that...but I had to give you the G-rated version of their conversation).
To make a long story short - I'm all cleaned up now. And mom and daddy say I'm still the best little boy ever. Let's see what tomorrow brings...can you say...PEE PEE?

Just Another Busy Day!

Today was a super busy day. Let's see...I woke up at 8am...yep...I'm sleeping now (!) then mom changed my diaper b/c I peed thru it...then I changed my clothes...then I played in my swing while mom ate breakfast. I got all buckled in to my car seat and we went to Keen Bean for some coffee...then off to Itsy Bitsy Yoga for 10am. It was so good to see all of my friends! Grace...Quinn...Iyush...and Davis!
Okay, then mom had to weigh in at WW to keep up her lifetime membership and she lost 1/2 lb. (not sure how that happened...since she's not trying to lose weight). Must be all of that boob I eat :) After that we went to Panera for some lunch. I started to get a little fussy so mom took me to the car to feed me and then changed my diaper. Oh, and we went to the YMCA to sign me up for swim lessons. I start on Tuesday! Yay! I already have 4 sets of swim trunks! Mom and I went on a tour today to see where we'd be swimming, etc. and I can't wait!
It was now about 1 or so...and mom said it was time to head home. We had to pick up my medicine in town but once we got home - mom put me down for a much-needed nap. What a busy day! Mom's hoping the doctor will decrease my Prilosec since I seem to be doing so much better. We'll find out...I have my 6 month checkup on Monday.
Oh yeah, I went swimming for the first time while I was on vacation. I can't believe I forgot to tell you that? There's a picture of all of us in one of the many hotels we stayed in! (I think I'm going to be a natural at this water thing...)
Okay - time for bed. My Aunt Erica is coming to see me tomorrow and I need my beauty sleep.

Ocean City, Maryland

My first trip to the beach was pretty amazing. Mom and dad took me to Ocean City, Maryland. Mom used to go there as a little girl with her dad, so it was special that we were now starting this tradition in our family.
This is me and mom on the beach :) It was really cold that morning but it was perfect weather for me. Mom put my feet in the sand for the first time and I loved it. It felt so good between my toes and I even tried to scoop some up with my hand but mom said no. Dad is the one taking the picture and he stayed up on the boardwalk with my stroller so that mom and I could have some time on the beach together.

In this picture, mom had just put my feet in the ocean for the first time and I hated it! The water was FREEZING and I started to cry. She felt bad so she picked me right up and headed back for some kisses from dad.

Ahh, dad, so glad you're here :) Sometimes he just makes everything all better again. We had so much fun that day...just walking the boardwalk...the 3 of us. I think mom got a little emotional though...she started to cry as we were walking...I think she was remembering when she was a little girl walking down that same boardwalk with her dad. They were good memories though, and happy tears - I heard her tell my dad. She just kept squeezing me and telling me how much she loved me and then she started telling me stories about things she used to do with her brother and sister when they were at the beach. Sure sounds like they all had a great time. I hope I get to go to Ocean City again next year.
